Antisemitism on Gab

Read FOA’s latest report on antisemitism on Gab. Here are some key findings:

  • Gab has become a breeding ground for far-right ideologies and antisemitic content. Unlike conventional social media platforms, Gab deliberately refuses to implement policies against hate speech, allowing the unrestricted dissemination and spread of extremist narratives.
  • Gab’s terms of service clearly state that the site will not monitor hate speech, citing the First Amendment. Gab’s lack of hate speech guidelines, by design, allows explicit antisemitic content to be posted without fear of challenge.
  • Gab’s lack of content moderation has directly contributed to real-world violence. The shooter responsible for the 2018 Pittsburgh synagogue attack used Gab to post antisemitic messages before carrying out that massacre.
  • Gab’s founder, Andrew Torba, has publicly endorsed antisemitic groups such as the Goyim Defense League (GDL). He has defended the presence of hate groups on the platform, framing it as a free speech issue while allowing their content to thrive.
