It draws attention to the potential dangers for children and young people on the Internet. It highlights current phenomena and technological developments such as challenges and pranks, generative AI, and the increased risks for young people due to their misuse.

Hate speech and extremism are being given new gateways to influence and radicalize young people, e.g. through virtual gaming worlds and the use of AI.

Sexualized violence against minors continues to make up the majority of reports and cases. CSAM continues to be spread on a massive scale.

Reporting channels are regularly reviewed and the results show low deletion rates after user reports to the major players.

Security settings are insufficiently effective, as age verification is inadequate in most cases.
In 2023, jugendschutz.net processed 7,645 offences. Two-thirds of these are related to sexualized violence. Twelve percent involved sex/pornography and 11 percent political extremism. Five percent were due to self-harming content and two percent to cyberbullying. At the end of the year, 6,902 cases (90 %) were resolved.
